How the Officer would contribute to the Council for Renewable Energy in Nigeria as a member of the EMC: The nominee as a member of EMC will instantly create the democratic awareness for rural dwellers whereby they begin to experience a sense of democratic belonging, even being several scores of kilometers away from the Local Government Headquarters. Renewable Energy Technology such as solar and wind energy systems, offer lower operating costs and reduced environmental pollution. They also provide long-term benefit, which if fully evaluated by decision and policy makers, could impart the choice of technology in favour of Renewable Energy (RE) System. However since RE systems are relatively new comers on the energy-supply list, they are not often given proper consideration for grass root application. Part of the fault lies in the lack of available information about capabilities and applications of RE system.
The nominee will enhance networking with appropriate Government agencies for effective information dissemination.
The watch word for the nominee will be “RENEWABLE ENERGY FOR POWERING HEALTHY AND GOOD LIVING IN RURAL AREAS IN THE DIASPORA”.

How the Officer would contribute to the Council for Renewable Energy in Nigeria as a member of the EMC: Engr. Farounbi is a crusader of renewable energy in Ilorin. Having embarked on some initiative in sustaining his immediate environment with the use of Solar Chargers, preaching fuel based companies and individuals to explore the use of Solar, Wind and etc in carrying out their operations, he stands the prospect of spreading the same nationally if given a chance in EMC. He planned to stage unrelenting awareness programmes that will sensitize the public on the effect of Global Warming, talk Governments at all levels to employ the use of renewable energy in a move to achieve the Millennium Development Goals as stipulated by the UN. He would also carry the campaign to the education sector and make certain that Renewable Energy forms part of the curriculum. He will work with other members to achieve the set goals of the council.
